The “Healthy Bites” unit is designed for beginning English speakers in grades 3-5. It contains 12 lessons that are each approximately 45 minutes in length. This unit can be easily adjusted to meet the needs of K-2 and/or intermediate English proficiency students.
“Healthy Bites” is a project focused unit where students are energized by the project launch in Lesson 1 and work toward developing the language and concepts needed for the project throughout the unit. The final project for this unit requires students to work collaboratively to create a healthy menu to serve to invited guests in a mock restaurant.
This unit integrates health, language arts, and science concepts with language development standards. Early literacy skills are woven into the unit as well.
